§ 10-1001. DEFINITIONS.

  • (a) For the purposes of this article, a qualified lifeguard is a person who is at least eighteen years of age, who is in good physical condition, and who has and can demonstrate the following abilities: Swim two hundred yards; the approved tows, breaks, and carries used in standard life saving practices; the currently approved methods of artificial respiration; and basic first aid. One means by which a person shall be considered to satisfactorily meet the foregoing requirements is when he is the possessor of a valid current Red Cross or Y.M.C.A. Senior Life Saving certificate, or Red Cross or Y.M.C.A. Water Safety Instructor certificate.

    (b) For the purposes of this article, a bather is any person in bathing attire. (Orig. Ord. 4697).
