  • (a) Permission herein granted to stop or stand a vehicle for purposes of loading or unloading of materials shall apply only to commercial vehicles and shall not extend beyond the time necessary therefor, and in no event for more than thirty minutes, unless the materials loaded or unloaded exceed two and one-half tons, in which event twelve minutes shall be allowed for the loading or unloading of each ton of materials.

    (b) The loading or unloading of materials shall apply to commercial deliveries, also the delivery or pickup of express and parcel post packages and United States mail.

    (c) Permission herein granted to stop or park for purposes of loading or unloading passengers shall include the loading or unloading of personal baggage but shall not extend beyond the time necessary therefor and in no event for more than three minutes, except no passenger vehicle shall stop or stand in a "taxicab zone" or a "postal mailing zone" for the purpose of loading or unloading passengers when such stopping would interfere with a taxicab waiting to enter or about to enter a taxicab stand or would interfere with a vehicle waiting to enter or about to enter a "postal mailing zone" for the purpose of depositing mail.

    (d) Within the total time limits above specified, the provisions of this section shall be enforced so as to accommodate necessary and reasonable loading or unloading but without permitting abuse of the privileges hereby granted. (Rep. and Added Ord. 6130, 1962; based on former Sec. 10-1204).
